Terme Snovik lies at roughly 440 meters in the Tuhinj Valley, around 9 km from Kamnik and framed by the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, making it the highest-altitude thermal spa in Slovenia. The site's potential was investigated from 1953, with some fifteen research boreholes drilled around the Vaseno and Snovik hamlets over four decades before a usable thermal source, rich in magnesium and calcium, was confirmed. A first experimental wooden pool opened in 1994, a covered thermal pool followed in 2001, and an outdoor pool in 2003. In 2006 Slovenia's Ministry of Health officially declared the water a natural healing agent, recognized also for its quality as drinking water.
