Terme Stufe di Nerone se encuentra junto al lago Lucrino, cerca de Bacoli, al oeste de Nápoles, donde el agua termal volcánica se ha utilizado desde al menos el siglo II a.C. Conocidos por los romanos como Balneum Silvianae, los manantiales formaban parte de la zona turística de Baia y quedaron sepultados por la erupción de 1538 que formó el Monte Nuovo. Redescubierto en el siglo XVIII, el sitio actual aprovecha agua salso-bromo-yódica que emerge a temperaturas de hasta unos 80°C, usada para tratar afecciones reumáticas y respiratorias.
Terme Stufe di Nerone sits on Lake Lucrino near Bacoli, west of Naples, where volcanic thermal water has been used since at least the 2nd century BC. Known to the Romans as the Balneum Silvianae, the springs were part of the lakeside resort area of Baia and were later buried by the 1538 eruption that formed Monte Nuovo. Rediscovered in the 18th century, the site today draws on salso-bromo-iodic water emerging at temperatures reported up to around 80°C, used for treating rheumatic and respiratory conditions.

Los manantiales eran conocidos en la antigüedad como Balneum Silvianae y formaban parte de Baia, en su día el balneario costero más elegante de la élite romana, frecuentado por figuras como Julio César, Pompeyo y Cicerón. La erupción de 1538 que formó el Monte Nuovo sepultó los baños antiguos, que fueron redescubiertos en el siglo XVIII antes de que se estableciera el actual complejo termal junto al lago Lucrino.

The springs were known in antiquity as the Balneum Silvianae and formed part of Baia, once the most fashionable seaside resort of the Roman elite, frequented by figures such as Julius Caesar, Pompey and Cicero. The 1538 eruption that formed Monte Nuovo buried the ancient baths, and the springs were rediscovered in the 18th century before the modern spa complex was later established at Lake Lucrino.
