QC Spa Salsomaggiore occupies the historic Palazzo delle Terme Berzieri, an Art Deco thermal landmark built between 1914 and 1923 in Salsomaggiore Terme, Emilia-Romagna. The site's salt-bromine-iodine ('salsobromoiodiche') waters, roughly four times saltier than seawater, were used for salt extraction from a hand-dug well as early as the late 1200s and were officially recognized as therapeutic in 1839 by physician Lorenzo Berzieri. QC Terme reopened the property in December 2025 under the name 'QC Spa of Wonders.'
A hand-dug salt well operated here from the late 1200s. The waters' curative properties were officially identified in 1839 by physician Lorenzo Berzieri, though Roman and Celtic peoples were already aware of them. The Art Deco Palazzo delle Terme Berzieri, one of Italy's landmark thermal buildings, was built between 1914 and 1923.
