Tha Pai Hot Spring lies within Huai Nam Dang National Park (established 1995), about 8 km south of the popular backpacker town of Pai in Mae Hong Son province. The source water emerges at around 80°C and is rich in silica, sulfur, calcium and magnesium, which leave visible mineral deposits on the surrounding rocks; it is channeled into cooler bathing pools generally in the 34-42°C range. Surrounded by teak forest in the highlands above the Pai valley, the springs are a well-established stop on the national park circuit alongside waterfalls and viewpoints in the area.
