Balçova Agamemnon Thermal Baths lie just southwest of İzmir on the road toward Çeşme, and take their name from Agamemnon, the legendary King of Mycenae, whose soldiers were said to have bathed there on an oracle's advice after battle; tradition also holds that Alexander the Great's army was treated at the springs. The water reaches around 62°C and carries a high mineral content. After the Ottoman conquest of İzmir in 1415, the baths were repaired and regained their importance as a healing site. Today the complex includes nine pools, two Turkish hammams and a physiotherapy center, alongside the Balçova Thermal Hotel, which offers 37 thermal baths and rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal conditions and post-operative recovery.
Legend attributes the site's discovery to Agamemnon's soldiers on an oracle's advice, with later tradition linking it to Alexander the Great's army; it was restored and revitalized after the Ottoman conquest of İzmir in 1415.
