Bumpass Hell Trail

Bumpass Hell es el espectáculo geotérmico principal del Parque Nacional Volcánico Lassen, accesible por un sendero entablado de ida y vuelta de 5 kilómetros. Bumpass Hell is the premier geothermal spectacle in Lassen Volcanic National Park, accessible via a 5-kilometre round-trip boardwalk trail. Named after Kendall Bumpass, a guide who severely burned his leg by breaking through the thin crust into scalding water in 1865, the area encompasses boiling mud pots, steam fumaroles, and pools of intensely acidic water at temperatures up to 92°C. This is not a soaking destination — it is a geological theater where the earth's internal heat vents dramatically at the surface, surrounded by volcanic terrain sculpted by Lassen Peak's 1915 eruption.
