Jod-Sole-Therme Bad Bevensen draws on an iodine-rich brine spring discovered in 1964 near the town of Bad Bevensen in the Ilmenau valley. The bathing facility was built starting in 1968, and the spring's therapeutic qualities earned the town official recognition as a state-approved mineral spa in 1975–76. Today its indoor and outdoor pools run at roughly 33–35°C with saline concentrations between 3% and 5%, and the site includes an extensive sauna landscape.
The therme's iodine-rich brine spring was discovered in 1964 during oil exploration roughly 3 km outside town. Construction of the bathing facility began in 1968, and the town received official recognition as a state-approved mineral spa on May 12, 1976, after the spring's therapeutic qualities were confirmed in 1975.
