Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad sits at 1,433 meters on Mount Rigi above Lake Lucerne, drawing on the mineral spring known locally as the 'Drei Schwestern' (Three Sisters) source, whose healing reputation was first written down in 1540 — a bathing tradition now some 600 years old. The mineral water is warmed to around 35°C for the indoor and outdoor pools of a bath complex designed by star architect Mario Botta, reached only by cable car or on foot since Rigi Kaltbad is car-free. It remains one of the highest-altitude mineral baths in Switzerland.
The healing effect of the Rigi Kaltbad spring was first mentioned in writing in 1540, giving the site a bathing tradition of roughly 600 years. The current bath and spa building was designed by internationally renowned architect Mario Botta.
