Parque Termal Federación is one of Argentina's most-visited thermal complexes, drawing water from 1,268 meters underground at a constant 42°C. The chlorinated-bicarbonated sodium waters are weakly alkaline (pH 7.8-8.2) with low overall mineralization and slight natural radioactivity from radon-222. Beyond the thermal pools, the park includes water-park attractions, kayaking on the adjoining reservoir, horseback riding, craft fairs and access to the Chaviyú Forest Reserve, making it a major economic driver for the city, which was rebuilt nearby after its original site was flooded by the Salto Grande dam.

The town of Federación was entirely relocated in the 1970s-80s when the Salto Grande hydroelectric dam flooded its original site; the thermal springs, discovered during subsequent exploratory drilling, became the centerpiece of the new town's economy and identity.
