Termas de Fiambalá lies 15 km from the town of Fiambalá at 1,920 meters altitude in the Catamarca Andes. Water exceeds 60°C where it surfaces and reaches roughly 80°C in the underground reservoir, then cools through 14 tiered natural pools, ranging from about 42°C down to 30°C. The sulfated, silicated, alkaline-bicarbonated waters (total dissolved solids around 491 mg/L, pH 7.6-7.7) are indicated for muscle soreness, arthritis, rheumatism, skin conditions and circulatory issues. The springs were known to indigenous peoples long before Fiambalá's Spanish founding in 1701, and the site's tourist infrastructure grew substantially in the 1980s under local leadership; it is also famous internationally as a Rally Dakar waypoint.
